The Steaming Turd Award is an award you don't want. It is given to individuals, groups or organizations whose sense of honor has been compromised to meet a self serving agenda and whose actions have a negative effect on the digital community at large.

1. Sparta Police Chief Andrew Milanowski
The award is given for actions above and beyond the call of reason. Chief Milanowski launched a witch hunt for people who "piggyback" on an open Wi-Fi system at a local coffeshop, even though the owner of the network does not mind if people outside of the coffee shop log into it.  He has charged otherwise law-obiding citizens with a felony using a Hammurabi inspired Michigan law meant to be used against illegal computer hackers and crackers.
